Título

Development of a Nursing Care Protocol for Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Therapy (CAR-T): A Methodological Study

Introdução

CAR-T therapy represents a new perspective in the treatment of hematological tumors. The nursing team plays a crucial role throughout the patient care journey, so it is necessary for these professionals to stay updated with specific scientific recommendations. In view of this, the aim of this research is to develop a protocol for managing the care of patients receiving CAR-T therapy, promoting better results and safety.

Objetivo

To develop a nursing care protocol for adult patients undergoing chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T) and to pre-test the instrument with professionals working in this therapeutic process at a Cancer Center.

Métodos

This research is a methodological study, emphasizing an integrative literature review, protocol proposal creation, and instrument pre-testing, aiming to stimulate action and reflection by the nursing team on current care practices. The study design corresponds to the first phase of the methodological recommendations outlined in the CReDECI checklist (2018). The protocol development and pre-testing phases will follow the recommendations set out in The AGREE II Instrument (2009), which provides a methodological strategy for developing clinical guidelines. The study will be conducted at the AC Camargo Cancer Center, an institution specializing in oncology and one of the few in Brazil selected and qualified for CAR-T therapy. The study will adhere to the rules and guidelines established in Resolution 466 of 2021 and will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee.

Resultados

Expected Results: Given that the nursing team plays a fundamental role in the CAR-T therapeutic process, from the
initial assessment of eligible patients to post-infusion monitoring, it is hoped that both nurses and nursing technicians will be able to identify and manage the care process effectively in the context of CAR-T therapy. With the creation of the protocol, it is anticipated that professionals will better understand the care recommendations for this therapy and contribute to the quality and effectiveness of the therapeutic process.

Conclusões

The research, by developing a detailed and viable protocol, will contribute to clinical practice by providing clear guidelines for the prevention and management of the effects associated with chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T). Evidence-based practice is essential for maximizing the benefits of therapy, ensuring better outcomes for patients, and maintaining safety for professionals, including nurses and nursing technicians.
